This guy used the product for the first time ever!
So, this product is amazing! Why? A little bit about me, I’m first a guy! Yes, I’m a guy who loves doing nails. However, it wasn’t my intention to actually do gel nails for myself. I took my mother to the salon to have her mani and pedi done for Mother’s Day! She didn’t want the mani, and I’d already ordered it with the reservation. The nail techs were all mothers too, so I didn’t feel comfortable taking money out of their pockets especially so close to the holiday, so I elected to have the mani added to my pedi service. The nail tech meant well, but either didn’t realize how thin my nails were, or was too distracted by whatever was going to to realize she had filed my nails paper thin. I didn’t realize this as the gel nail polish I requested was pretty thick, and provided a decent amount of support, or at least enough to prevent pain. After about a week, I decided I needed to go back to natural nails, so I soaked the polish off. When I did, I realized that the nail bed was so close to the top of the nail it was excruciating. I’m no nail tech, but I do know that the nails will grow out, so I got a couple of gel kits with good base coats and top coats, and just layered it all on so that I could build some form of structure. That was ok, but didn’t quite do the job, as the nails were tearing under the cured gel. So I started doing some research on builder gels. I figured I needed to get a very thick, slow moving gel that would be a little bit more flexible to my constant walking the gel around. However, I didn’t want something like cement on my nails because I really haven’t ever done this before. I decided I just needed structure, and thickness to the natural nail. I decided on this product because it was a slower moving, but still self leveling gel. It was forgiving enough to allow me to work to repair the nails without sacrificing a smooth appearance. This gel was just what I needed. It’s thick on the brush, and you don’t get a lot of gel on the brush when you do your dip, but it worked perfectly. The only real down side to this product is the brush itself. I love that it has a cap that converts to the handle, however, even putting the bristle protector back onto the brush, the cap doesn’t fit and is loose. The plastic collar is still in place, but its just too wide now to really stay on. I’ve put tape on it to keep it closed, but I’ll be purchasing more brushes anyway so I’m not really too concerned with it. As far as the forms are concerned, well, let’s just say I’m a guy, and my fingers are a bit wider than most paper forms so they separate and really make the application more difficult, however, I ended up filing more of the application off after curing and was able to shape it into a decent nail shape to look as natural as possible. The gel doesn’t look very good along and on its own, so I had to add gel polish, but with more practice I’m sure I’ll be able to get it looking better, so that’s on me not the product. All in all, if you’re starting out, or if you’ve been doing nails for a long time, you’ll find this product to work well. I’m sure that as one gets better they’ll have the confidence to do more than just one nail at a time, especially on their own, but for me i took my time, and read the instructions. Note!!! CURE THIS FOR 2 Minutes!!!! The instructions are included with the product, but aren’t really available on the listing in amazon. I use an LED lamp and it worked just right. As far as over curing, I didn’t notice any discoloration, cracking, or over polymerization with putting my nails in the lamp for 2 minutes. Going forward I’ll e-file the color off and do a back fill until the nails have grown out enough to remove the product and do a complete reapplication, so I’m figuring it should last a good 6 weeks. It’s been a couple of days so far and I’ve not noticed any issues with the integrity of the product. Some nails are thinner than others, but the thickness of the nails hasn’t effected the integrity of the application or the product. All the nails are strong enough and don’t hurt when I type, write, or try to pick anything up, so I’m satisfied. I hope this review helps you in your decision making.

BEST BUILDER GEL IVE TRIED
I love and enjoy working with this builder gel it’s easy and handy to use . My only issue is that it some how spill out of the bottle at times idk how but it can be close for days and when I go open it I find the bottle tacky mind you I clean all my items after finish using them . So idk what I’m actually doing wrong here .In the picture I used this builder gel to give my gel x nails structure and it last me a good 3 to 4 weeks but I don’t like to keep them on that long .

Does not dry
This was the first builder gel I had bought at the time. I have been doing nails for a little over a year now and although not professionally, I consider my final products to be close enough to professional looking to wear myself-even though every artist typically hates their own work. Anyway, I thought I was doing something wrong because the instructions say something to the extent of “there will still be a wet layer on top once cured, just wipe that off and you will have your final result” BUT NO MATTER HOW LONG I CURED IT IT WOULD WIPE ALL THE WAY OFF EVERY TIME. I thought I was doing something wrong so I bought an even more expensive higher wattage nail lamp, and even then after I had cured it for 10 minutes and it wiped 80% of it off and what was left had a ton of holes in it. The only way I could get it to work was to put top coat in with it and mix it together before putting it on a nail. Then it would cure somewhat. I just couldn’t sand it down because anything under the surface would still be wet and it would also come off fairly quickly (within a day or so). So finally I had had enough and just gave up and went back to acrylic and poly gel until I got builder gel from Modelones as a gift and reluctantly I tried it and it worked EXACTLY how it was supposed to. Oh yeah and once you opened the rubber base coat, 5-1 gel and hard gel you can’t put them back in the box sideways because they will leak on everything. I don’t know how this company is one of the more popular nail brands. Everything I have ordered from them sucks.

Perfection!!!!
I absolutely LOVE this stuff!!! No mixing stuff, no purple tint from monomer, just crystal clear! I've been doing my own nails (applying nail tips) for 30yrs and I've been looking for something clear and a little thicker than gel nail polish but thinner than (and less harmful than acrylic powder) and THIS is it!!! ❤️

too thick and peels off nail
I used this product for the first time on one of my clients and they emailed me around a week later with a photo of the gel completely peeled off in one piece but with the gel-x extension still on. I then tried it on myself and the same thing is happening around a week later. Not a durable product and I would recommend going with a different builder gel… (also application was much harder than any other gel i’ve tried)
