NOT a bread and butter plate!!!
This is NOT a “bread and butter plate”! It doesn’t even FIT a piece of bread! I put a picture with a regular piece of bread, and one with a real bread and butter plate for reference. The whole point of a bread and butter plate, is that you can put a piece of bread on it to butter it. That means the circumference of the plate, (on the INSIDE) should be the size of the bread, with the rim rising around it. It’s a candy dish at best. Even the saucer for my Spode tea cup is bigger! I was trying to replace an actual bread and butter plate, now I have to look again. I’ll give it a second star only because it’s a decent CANDY DISH.

The Spode Blue Italian 6-1/4" Bread and Butter Plates are beautiful! A set of 4 was a Birthday gift this year. I was so thrilled! I actually use them with my teapot, teacups, and saucers to hold danish or quiche or appetizers. Just a nice touch of elegance!
