30 Years of Mobile Phones in the UK

It'd be great to see the authors' issue a revised copy as so much has happened since the book was published in 2015The book gives a comprehensive business and technical history of the mobile phone from a British point of view. It's not too technical and most of the major models and developments are covered in words and good quality photos.I purchased this book as soon as it was published and have referred back to it on many occasions. The book also complements the authors' other Amberley title 'History of the British Phone Box'.

If you've lived through the Mobile Phone evolution of the last 30 years, then this is a fascinating little book, which will doubtless bring back memories of phones now relegated to a drawer somewhere.

Having worked in the engineering group of a major mobile operator for 20 years I found this a good interesting read. Even though it seems aimed at a predominantly non-technical audience, it was sufficiently detailed to give a great understanding of the subject. If you want to know how we got from talking on an old crackly huge handset to watching HD films on the move, then this is the book for you!Nothing to do with the fact that I had the great pleasure of working with one of the authors (Andy Sutton) for a number of years and I have never come across such an enthusiast for his subject.

This is an excellent book on the history of the mobile phone. Anyone who has been in business over the last 30 years and used mobile phones will recognise old favourites from clunky simple early mobile phones attached to cars or large batteries to today's slim line smartphone technology. If you have been involved in the telecoms industry - as I have - you will recognise this excellent work as a well written, expertly informed, modern history lesson. There are superb photos of phones with original boxes and background to how the mobile phone phenomena evolved from early days to what it is now. A must read if you like technology!

A must read for anyone interested in telecommunication industry. It is also very insightful for understanding technology evolution over a period of time. The huge number of photographs makes the read every more entertaining.
