Portmeirion Exotic Botanic Garden Bread and Butter Plate with Dragonfly Motif, Set of 6

Amazon must have noted previous reviewers' feedback on packaging, because mine arrived in perfect condition, stacked w/ paper between each plate in a tightly-packed, well-taped box with bubble-wrap around it, inside a larger box with padding! This is my first Portmeirion order and I had not seen the plates in person beforehand, which would have been helpful. They are not as white as pictured, but are a nice off-white color and are truly beautiful. The underside of a few of them had "blemishes" (tiny bubbled-up white marks) which I would not have noticed had not a previous reviewer mentioned them. The kind of guests I normally have at my house are not the type to turn the plate upside-down to critique it, but if they should ever do so, these "blemishes" are not unsightly, and there are none of these on the top surface. If you are like me and haven't bought dinnerware in twenty years, pay attention to the size; take out a measuring tape and, using a current plate you have, measure the size you want before ordering, so you can better decide which size you want. This bread-and-butter plate will make a wonderful dessert plate for Tea and Coffee, which is what I wanted. I will be ordering more from this design very soon and will be ordering through Amazon.

These tropical prints are gorgeous! Lovely to be reminded of vacations in warmer climes. These are made in the UK and match my other Botanic Garden pieces. I found that the Botanic Roses and these tropical patterns are a creamier base color than my original garden pieces which have a slight greenish tint to the cream base. But these are beautiful added on and you don't really notice the shade difference when you set the table. I added these on since we have more people around on weekends, and I like this more girly feeling china vs the super tough fiesta which is the staple of my all boy(cept for me) household. There were no flaws in these plates. But, on the outside or bottoms, I know there are always occasional bumps made by flecks of sand. These are noticeable in all but the bake ware, and across pieces I have from over 15 years ago and bought from various stores too. I love using these, and they are not too fragile for everyday, though I do stick to wknd, everyday entertaining use.

I bought an entire set of Port Meirion large plates, dessert plates and bread plates and this is what it looks like 5-6 years later. The cracks started almost immediately and this is the end result. I paid a lot of money for these and I cannot tell you how utterly disappointed I am. I bought this set to complement an extisting one which I purchased 10 years ago. My 10 year old set does not have anything wrong at all with them. BUYER BEWARE!

Just recieved this beautiful set of 6 Bread and butter plates was purchased for our collection we have had for 20+ years. One, unfortunately was recieved broken. How can I get that replaced?

Excellent quality plates and excellent delivery through Amazon. However, be advised that these are called 6" Plates (BG05092) by Portmeirion, not "Bread and Butter" Plates (Portmeirion info on their B&B plates = 5"d; BG03704). As specified by Amazon, the full diameter on these BG05092 plates is 7.25" (I have no idea why Portmeirion calls them 6" - I put a ruler up to them, and precisely 6 inches of diameter doesn't fall anywhere obvious), and they are definitely larger than the typically-sized B&B plates. I like the larger size, as they can also be used for small salads or averaged-portioned desserts. If you're looking for the daintily-sized B&B plates, though, don't let the name of these fool you. They aren't Botanic Garden's formal B&Bs.

I'm pretty sure these plates are seconds. Every single one has a flaw or 2. That explains why they cost $11.29 each (6 for $67.72) rather than the $21 to $30 that a single bread & butter plate costs. My other Portmeirion dishes are Botanic Garden. These are Exotic Botanic Garden & the color isn't pure white like the original Botanic Garden is. Even with the flaws, the Exotic Botanic Garden bread & butter plates are pretty. It would have been nice to have them advertised for what they are - seconds. And if they aren't considered seconds, Portmeirion has fallen down on their quality.

I really love the Portmerion botanical and exotic botanic pattern. I use these small bread and butter plates for breakfast, snacks, desserts or a simple sandwich and I love to see the beautiful florals appear as I finish my meal! The set comes with a variety of exotic floral prints, and I can pick what flower appeals to me each day

These plates are a beautiful addition to the entire Botanic Garden dinnerware set that we purchased in London in 1992. We've been using them daily, ever since.
